It takes a lot to pull off a performance. Hours of practice. Traveling to the gig. Lugging heavy and awkward gear around. Setting up, getting the sound dialed in. And that's all BEFORE the performance even starts.
As someone who doesn't have a lot of energy to begin with, going through all this is a very daunting task. It would be easier to stick with a day job, to just play some songs at home, to keep music a hobby.
So why do I go through it all?
I do it for the people who smile and listen to the lyrics and feel like they are getting something valuable out of the listening experience. I do it for myself; to keep pushing my craft and to have an audience to bounce songs off of. For the thrill of it.
It's hard work.
It's worth it.
Especially when people are feeling the love and the dedication to craft.
